Join us for the third annual Golden Gate Fiber Institute.
We have fabulous teachers, a stunning location,
delicious food and the Pacific Ocean at our doorstep!
In this 6-day, intensive retreat, each student takes two classes - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Our belief is that dividing up the day and spending some time with each of two different subjects gives your mind and body time to learn and absorb all the new information and techniques.
Ancient Structures, Modern Twist is about the time, care attention and intention we as fiber artists pour into the process of making clothing and other useful objects. Imagine spending the morning designing warp paintings with Judith MacKenzie, exploring knitted sock structures with Cat Bordhi, spinning skills with Abby Franquemont, making a rigid heddle loom perform advanced weave structures with Syne Mitchell, creating luminous felted sculpture with Sharon Costello or becoming an expert in spinning novelty yarns with Jacey Boggs.
This is a small retreat in a relaxed atmosphere with ample time to learn and practice, walk for exercise and inspiration and enjoy your fellow fiber folk. The classes are small to maximize your learning opportunity and provide plenty of individual attention.
The retreat fee of $895 includes two workshops, all meals, and all lodging. Workshops may have additional materials fees.
